What does EGD stand for?

It stands for Emily Grady Dodge, which happens to be my name. Fancy that! I am an artist and all-around design enthusiast, with an affinity for painting flowers, plants, and colorful shapes. I also have an affinity for story-telling, so here's one for you...

In 2013, I dusted off a watercolor set I had leftover from an interior design class I had taken at FIT, and decided on a whim to paint a fiddle leaf fig tree. Just for fun, I posted it on Pinterest, and then on Etsy, and then it sold! Immediately hooked on the thrill of packaging up that painting and sending it to live in someone's home (in Las Vegas, no less!), my intent shifted from making art for myself to making art for other people. I am totally self-taught, and on January 1st, 2017, I took the plunge and began a 100 day project. Most of the artwork for sale here came out of that project, but even though the 100 days have passed, I'm not stopping!

I currently live in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn with my sweet husband, Ridgely, and our tabby cat, Duke Grady Dodge. I grew up in Winter Park, Florida, and moved to New York in 2009 as a result of watching one too many episodes of Sex & the City. Although I didn't end up with a closet full of designer shoes, I did end up with the the love of my life, the most wonderful group of friends, a sweet apartment with outdoor space, and a life I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.  And even though I've lived in NY for eight years, when I look at my paintings I can definitely see influences from my Florida days (hint, my favorite color happens to match the ocean).
